About the Area

One of the reasons we chose Jackson Hole for our wedding weekend is the access to outdoor activities in the area. We hope that you take advantage of the surroundings — read on for some hiking and outdoor activity suggestions below!

If you tend to appreciate the mountain views from a distance, or if you’re looking for a place to refuel, the area has plenty of restaurants, bars, and shopping to offer as well. The easily walkable downtown area of Jackson lends itself well to meeting up and exploring with other guests!

The Outdoors

HIKES

It’s recommend to bring bear spray on all hikes just to be safe. You can purchase it (and return unopened cans) at the Jackson airport, or any gear shop in town and in the parks.

Jenny Lake and HIDDEN FALLS (6 miles / easy-moderate): This hike is famous for providing fantastic views of the Tetons without requiring a steep climb (the hike is a fairly flat loop). There’s also a ferry that will take you across the lake if you prefer to do a half loop (or just take the ferry straight back). We recommend getting there early in the morning to beat the crowds.

Taggart Lake (4 miles / easy): Can be steeper at parts but is a good option for a shorter hike. Consider starting early in the morning and eating lunch by the lake!

PHELPS LAKe (7 miles / easy): Enjoy this 7 mile loop around the lake, bring a rented paddle board, or jump from the rock in the middle of the lake.

Delta Lake (7.5 miles / hard): This is a steeper, out-and-back trail, but with views that pay off for the extra work.

Dining options in the park include Jackson Lake Lodge, Jenny Lake Lodge, and Colter Bay Village.

THE RODEO
We highly recommend getting tickets to the rodeo that takes place Wednesday night if you happen to be in town by then. The buckaroos are a true sight to see!

Westbank Anglers comes recommended if you’ve always wanted to learn to fly-fish, or want to experience it on the Snake River.

RAFTING & WATER SPORTS
Lewis and Clark is a small family run business that offers rafting adventures. Request Billy!
Rendezvous River Sports is a great place to rent a paddle board or inner tube. You can also boat on Jackson Lake.

OLD TIMEY PHOTOS
A Gottwald Family staple! Make sure to call ahead to book an appointment to avoid long wait times!

Museum of wildlife art
Just outside of town on your way to Lost Creek Ranch and overlooks the Elk Refuge.

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
If you’d like a wildlife tour up to Yellowstone, we highly recommend Mountain Resort Services. Request Vinnie!

SHOPPING
We recommend shopping at Terra, Piper, and Kemosabe when walking around town!
